Yes, We now have power poles. Patti & I visited the site today to find two new power poles. This long awaited work has been along time coming. I guess the idea of starting my own power plant is no longer needed. Now we need power and a 3ft trench for the power line. This will only extend from the last pole and be probably 50' or so. Not much was completed this week, just some deck work.

"Yes, It Does Look Great!!"
After many months & days of waiting , plenty of phone calls with some on hold with no response, hair pulling, what little I have left, and some loss sleep Verizon finally showed up today. I talked to Graig Breslin of CVPS and he finally convinced them to start the job. We now have two poles on the property but the holes to put them in are not completed. Hopefully, they will complete the job soon!! Downloaded for your pleasure four pictures of the great room taken from upstairs. One of the pictures shows the trapezoid window area. This is the window that is back ordered and should come soon. The picture that shows Natasha is looking down towards the deck. The frame work is coming together very nice.

It's The Great Room
Work continues on the great room as you can see the other wall is going up. The rear of the house has the windows installed. Most of the log siding is completed on the rear of the home except the other side of the dormer. The deck is started and hopefully the rest of the windows will be in place by the weekend.

Great Room Shaping Up
Work will continue tomorrow on the great room wall. One side is completed as you can see in the picture and the other should be completed this week if the weather holds up. Today they didn't work because of the cold. After talking to John today he stated that the windows will be put in this week the wall finished in the great room, and the deck will be started. Our new front door will be delivered tomorrow. I'll show a picture of it soon! As I expected Verizon did not show up and install the poles. I tried to get a hold of them today but with no luck. I will try again tomorrow.

Windows & Siding
The windows are being installed. Some of the kitchen are now in. They have completed the siding on the north side and are now working on the front/back of the home. Notice the new brackets on the back side facing the road. I'll get a close up later, but they look great!! The interior of the kitchen shows the new windows, but does not have the short wall/island where the sink and counter will be.

Work Continues
All of thee windows were delivered on Friday the 11th. Even though it was a rainy day the windows made it to the home safe. The special order windows from Rice lumber also came on Friday. They are safe under the cover of the new roof. The interior walls were completed and the log siding is going on. Completion of the Prow wall in the great room should be completed this week. Installation of the windows should start as the siding is completed. One of the windows on the prow was back ordered. It's the odd shaped one by the loft. The front door was also ordered yesterday.

Rear Eye Brow Roof System
Today's warm weather in the low 60's helped construction crews install the eyebrow roof section for the rear of the house. This is a cosmetic look to make the log home look better. Spafford Wells installed the pump and the water holding tank is now installed in the basement. Ploof excavating dug the water line hole for the well. This all happened yesterday. Verizon was supposed to put the pole in today but did not show. After three calls and waiting about one half hour on the phone still no answer from them. CVPS was also called and I didn't have any luck talking to anyone there either. The bees took advantage of the warm weather. We probably had about 200 or so bees out getting some fresh air. This is common during the winter for bees. Although the Russians were the only hive flying today I hope the Italian's are ok.

Roof Work Continues
With warmer weather for cased for the next week work on the main roof structure should be completed. As you look at the pictures you can see some progress from later day's. Last Friday some of the roof was done as well as some of the sofit. The windows are scheduled for delevery on the 11th and hopefully John and his crew will be ready for them. The roof is supposed to be completed before the windows are installed. The reason is because if something falls from the roof it doesn't break the window. In one of the pictures it shows the upstairs area by the staircase. We are hoping Verizon will be installing our new power poles this week. This is going to be perfect weather for that project with temperatures projected nearing 55 on Wednesday.

Log Home Visit
The days are cold now with a soft cool breeze. Everyday is another day towards the completion of our dream home.
I took my first large tour to the log home on the 29th of December. The day of our wedding I took about 15 relatives to our new log home. The morning visit was enjoyed by all. I listened to many questions and comments and look forward to the next visit. On January 2nd Spafford installed the well pump. They will contact Ploof excavating about digging the hole for the water line. I visited the site today and it appears that the cold weather has slowed down the construction. The main beam of the great room was installed last Friday. The last image shows the sun setting over Fern Lake.
