Here is the picture I promised of the first boat dock section on the Lake. I also made section two which will have connections on each side for pipes to guide it and keep it aligned. I also need a boat for this dock. I'll be looking for a used small boat for the completed dock, along with a couple of kayaks. Yesterday I also cleared some more small trees that were in the water near the shore. I put on my waders and cleared some more sticks and leaves that have floated and accumulated near the shore. This is quite a messy job and at times stink, but when it's done we will have a nice looking waterfront. I still haven't heard anything from the plumber I called so I'll have to call someone else. The foundation estimate cannot be completed because he needs the plans so we'll have to wait until it returns.

Boat Dock
Yesterday, was a busy day for me. I brought the first section of dock over the the property and launched it. It was a complete success!!! I had to take it in four sections to the water down the hill, and put it back together fighting the bugs, but I managed without any problems. I also started burning brush in a large camp fire I started yesterday that kept the bugs down to a level I could tolorate. The day was not all working I fished the lake late in the afternoon. No! I did not catch that tuna, but I did manage to catch five Large Mouth Bass four of them over 13" long around the 2 1/2 lb range. It was quite exciting to say the least. They hit on my favorite flat fish lure which I am sad to say I lost on a submerged stick :( Rip, I hope to find it someday!. The rest hit on spinner bait. I did manage to catch a Crappie, actually it was my first Crappie. I hope to catch more someday and have a large feast. It's a rainy day today I'm not sure if I'll get much done at the property but I'll keep busy planning the next activity.

Boat Dock / Trophy Fish Caught on Fern Lake
Hello everyone!!
I started making the boat dock yesterday. I'm sure it will be sturdy with all the fancy boat dock hardware I''m using. Pressure treated lumber is also being used. The first section will be taken to the lake hopefully today for it's maiden voyage on Fern lake. Picture are to follow soon! I received the estimate from Williamson Electric and also talked to CVPS the power company. I need to make a appointment to visit the lot so they can both talk to each other about how the power is going to the house. We are still debating about overhead wires or underground. Wires underground are owned by the property owners and the overhead are owned by the power company. I've been working hard on all projects and I will be taking a fishing break soon. This small tuna was caught in a special location on Fern Lake, sorry I can't tell you where, but if you come out and fish with me you will probably fish in my sweet spot and not know it.

Preliminary Drawings Update
Patti & I have signed off on the first rough draft of the preliminary drawings of the log home. The actual drawings will arrive in about 3-4 weeks. Check out the new pictures!! Also note that the kitchen/dining room will be switched to the other side of the house. These changes will be obvious when the preliminary's arrive. A 2 1/2 car garage will also be added to the drawings. The cost of the whole project has risen as well. I also received a updated proposal from the builder for the added changes. I will share the cost of this project at a later time, because it seems to change daily. I am still waiting for the Plumber & Heating person to call back. Also notice the new pictures of the Bee yard. The girls seem to be very happy at there new home and are very busy working the spring bloom.

Patti & I have had a busy week. We decided to go with Ploof excavating to do our work on the property. I made a call to him this morning to let him know. Last week we ordered the boat dock materials from Aubuchon Hardware they should be in by Wednesday. I also worked on the stone steps to the Lake look for the picture. I have about 30 ft of steps made. They will need some adjustments, but it's a start. I called and talked to the credit union to start the construction loan. She stated that we would need a proposal from each contractor before we can start. So far this is a listing of the project contractors, General Contractor, Paul Crosby & Patti O'Donohue. Electrician, Williamson Electric. Husk Plumbing & Heating, Dave Leonard Roofing, install shingles. Green Mtn Insulation, Spafford & Sons Wells, Ploof Excavating site work, septic, & Road. Builder John Hutchins & sons. Estimates continue to come in more updates when they happen.

Excavating
I finally have the estimate from Ploof Excavating. I talked to him on the phone. I could either pick up the estimate, or he would mail it. I chose to pick it up. Now we have some prices for the bank. We should be getting a estimate in the mail from QES Excavating. Nickie called and she said she would send a estimate in the mail. Let's hope she does! Right now, she is not batting a 1000 with us, she has been very slow in responding to calls. We had a appointment with Kate from Lincoln Logs and we went over the plans. We chose the doors and windows and the room sizes of the log home. The plans should be drawn soon after we look at the draft. Yea!

More Land clearing
Work on the land continues. On Sunday May 6th Patti & I did some more work on the land. Clearing dead trees and removing small trees was on the agenda for the day. I also started making some stone steps from the lake. Judging from the amount of rocks we have, this will not be a problem, just alot of time needed.
Patti & I took some ribbon and marked off the area where the house will be. This will give people some idea where the house will be instead of looking at trees and rocks.
We have not received any estimates in the mail yet. I guess I'll have to call them again! I hope this doesn't happen often! Patti talked to Kate and we will be meeting on Wednesday to go over the house plans so they can go to the final home drawings. I called and talked to the State water resource dept about a boat dock for the property and he stated that as long as it is not over 500 sq ft and shorter than 50 ft in length it would not be a problem. We also talked about clearing the trash that has floated to the shore from the lake being frozen.
I called the Town office about the building permit. The permit is good for two years, for any builder on the property. The permit expires in Febuary 08. I asked the town Clerk about burning brush and a permit is needed from the Fire Warden, just as I thought! Small camp fires are allowed in a confined area. We will be working on a fire pit near the Lake to burn the small brush we have collected.

Land Clearing
Today was a good day for clearing, so I took my small saw and cleared out some of the small trees by the Lake. Natasha & Charlie had a great time in the water. I also cleared out a area for the Honey Bees. They should be comming in about a week or so. Lot's of work to do on the land. One of my next projects is making some type of steps down to the lake for Patti, possibly making some steps with rocks or digging out the soil, just something easier to get to the lake front and back.

Yesterday, I contacted a builder for the log home. He was given the size of the home and today he called and gave me a quote. He will be sending the quote in the mail so we can go to the bank. Hopefully today the excavator quote will come in. Right now we have a quote from the water well drillers. We should have all estimates soon.
